چکیده

The semi-classical theory of collisional depolarization of spectral lines of neutral atoms by atomic hydrogen (Derouich et al. 2003a; Derouich et al. 2003b; Derouich et al. 2004 and references therein) is extended to spectral lines of singly ionised atoms. In this paper we apply our general method to the particular cases of the 3d D and 4p P states of the CaII ion and to the 5p P state of the SrII ion. Analytical expressions of all rates as a function of local temperature are given. Our results for the CaII ion are compared to recent quantum chemistry calculations. A discussion of our results is presented.

Are collisions with neutral hydrogen important for modelling the Second Solar Spectrum of Ti and Ca ?

Context. The physical interpretation of scattering line polarization offers a novel diagnostic window for exploring the thermal and magnetic structure of the quiet regions of the solar atmosphere. Aims. To evaluate the impact of isotropic collisions with neutral hydrogen atoms on the scattering polarization signals of the 13 lines of multiplet 42 of Ti  and on those of the K line and of the IR...

Isotropic inelastic and superelastic collisional rates in a multiterm atom

The spectral line polarization of the radiation emerging from a magnetized astrophysical plasma depends on the state of the atoms within the medium, whose determination requires considering the interactions between the atoms and the magnetic field, between the atoms and photons (radiative transitions), and between the atoms and other material particles (collisional transitions). In applications...

Ab initio calculation of the transfer and multipole rates of the Na ground state hyperfine levels perturbed by atomic hydrogen

A theoretical treatment of the multipole relaxation and transfer rates due to isotropic collisions is presented. Explicit expressions are obtained for the collisional rate constants of the hyperfine-structured ground level of the Na I atoms perturbed by collisions with H atoms. As the effects of Na nuclear spin during the collision are negligible, it is shown that all the rate constants involve...

Collisional transfer of population and orientation in NaK.

Collisional satellite lines with |ΔJ| ≤ 58 have been identified in recent polarization spectroscopy V-type optical-optical double resonance (OODR) excitation spectra of the Rb(2) molecule [H. Salami et al., Phys. Rev. A 80, 022515 (2009)]. Observation of these satellite lines clearly requires a transfer of population from the rotational level directly excited by the pump laser to a neighboring ...

بررسی دینامیک گذارهای آبشاری اتمهای میوندار با استفاده از روش چند گروهی

Studies on exotic atoms are important in different ways. They are important for strong interaction with nucleus and the theory of QCD in low energies. They are also important in muon catalyzed fusion (µCF). Their properties can be revealed by studies on cascade of muonic atoms. In this paper, unlike the others, we do not consider the kinetic energy of muonic atoms, constant (the kinetic energ...
